Made by hand, from natural materials

I make the wool toys and the kicker by hand in my small studio in Germany. The kicker is stuffed with wool from a shepherd in England, which I wash and prepare myself. Our cats Pancake and Marmalade test every new toy, and the smell of real wool is a big hit with them. The merino wool comes from a supplier who confirms it is mulesing-free and coloured with AZO-free dyes.

Choose the filling: catnip, valerian or no herbs

Every option is the same price. Catnip is the classic. About one in three cats doesn't react to it, and many of those cats love valerian instead. No herbs means natural wool only, which is lovely for kittens, cats that get over-excited, or cats that simply love the smell of real wool.

Care and safety

• Always supervise play and check the toy regularly. Remove it if it becomes damaged or loose. No cat toy is indestructible.
• Take matatabi sticks away once they splinter or become small enough to swallow.
• The cotton scent pouches are for refreshing toys, not for playing with.
• Store catnip sealed, cool, dry and out of your cat's reach.
• Wool toys can be spot-cleaned with a little cold water and left to air-dry.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a good gift for a cat lover?

Yes. It's designed as a gift set, with a mix of toys so the cat is bound to find a favourite. Many people choose it for cat birthdays, "gotcha days", new adoptions or friends with cats.

What if my cat doesn't react to catnip?

About one in three cats doesn't. Choose valerian or no herbs for the filled toys, and try the matatabi sticks: in one study, most cats that ignored catnip reacted to silver vine. Read our guide to catnip, matatabi and valerian.

Is it suitable for kittens?

Yes, with supervision. Most kittens won't react to catnip or matatabi until around 3–6 months, but they still love chasing the balls and kicking the cushion.

How do I refresh the toys?

Put a pinch of the dried catnip in the cotton pouch and store it with the toys for a day or two.
